The Fill Up

The Fill Up

When I was a child, one day I decided that I was going to do something great for my Dad. I wanted to fill up his truck and my brother to help me. We took the water hose, placed it in the gas tank and let the water run in until it had overflowed. We were so proud and kept it a secret because we wanted to surprise him. Boy, was he surprised when he tried to drive. He had a little trouble cranking the truck up but was able to finally get it started. He made it out of the driveway and up the hill before the truck stopped. We didn’t know what was wrong. The water looked just like gas and the gas hand indicated that it was full. Long story short, we tore that engine up.
Some of us are just like that truck-walking around and testifying that we are saved, sanctified and filled with Holy Spirit but are not. Some are full of something - but not the right something. We look like and give the appearance that we are running on full but are really torn and messed up on the inside.
If you are filled with the wrong stuff, allow God to fill you. He says in his word:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23 NIV

Also:
“but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.
Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
John 4:14 NIV
